I have photoshop elements 7. I just created a paranoma of 3 pictures and after saving it it says "file is too large". What's going on?

Could try saving as a tiff file and see if still get message. If are trying to save using save for web feature, it has trouble with very large files. Do you know how to resize and change resolution on a copy that could be your web file?

What are the pixel dimensions of the panorama? And where does the message appear, in the Editor or the Oganizer after you save it?

I never checked the resolution so I created a new one to check. It said 10944 pixels for width and 4378 for height . How do I change that? By the way it only said file size too large in the organizer.

10944 pixels for width and 4378 for height = 47,192,832 pixels = 45.6 megapixels. This almost certainly exceeds the size limits for the Organizer:

(That tech note is for PSE 5; there's a very similar note for PSE 6 and 7, but Adobe's knowledgeabase search appears broken at the moment.) I'm guessing you've saved it as a PSD.

Note that the image is in your catalog, it's just that the Organizer can't displayit. If you want the Organizer to be able to display it, you'll need to resize its pixel dimensions or save it as a JPEG (depending on how much memory you have -- see the tech note).

Tx for the explanation re size limits. I didn't know organizer had a size limit as am on a mac and iphoto hasn't balked at even 80MP panoramics.

Every time I want to reset the resolution, width and height the numbers keep on changing back to whatever the computer decides. Also , what resolution , width and height would I use for a paranoma? Why does my computer save the picture as psd instead of j peg?

The numbers changing is normal. It may be easier for your purposes to change the pixel dimensions in the resize box(at the top) as that will tell you the size in megapixels before and after. Just pick the largest number(only need to change ht or width as computer will change the other to keep in proportion) you can and still get under the max size for organizer.

PSD is the default for PSE. To save as jpeg, flatten image, choose save as, and change psd to jpeg in the drop down.

I advise saving it as a different name. Keep your original panos in a desktop file and when you have enough burn to cd or dvd. The large, uncompressed file would be needed for sending out to print and maybe someday organizer could handle bigger files.

Have faced a similar problem. Save the panorama as a PSD.
Or you may resize the image in Image->Resize-> Image size.

The maximum limit for Editor is 30K X 30K Pixels for a PSD.
