If I have a picture of a night skyline and another picture of the moon,,,,,,,,,,,how do I place the moon into the skyline photo?
It sounds like superimposing one layer over another but how do you do that?

dicklaxt, yes that's how it's done.
First you must select the moon.
This can be done a number of ways depending on what surrounds the moon.
If the moon is on a background that matches the night sky of your original then draw a circle using the lasso tool and drag it onto the main photo.
If not, then carefully go around the moon only and drag it onto the main photo.
If you prefer not to drag you can do a copy and paste.
If the resolution of both photos are not the same you will have to scale (enlarge/reduce) the moon to fit.
There are other methods, but I find this to be the easiest.

dick, rather than go through the numerous ways of doing this it would be better if you posted what you have.
This will cut out instructions that may not pertain to your situation.
Once you get the hang of this, understanding the other methods will be easier.
To post on pixentral follow this:
Go to this link
http://www.pixentral.com/
and follow the pictured instructions.
Whatever you upload should be not much more than 2MB which is the size limit on what you can post on pixentral.
You will have to find the file you want to send and then click to send to pixenral. Triple click inside the Fourm window to highlight the link and copy.
Then paste it into your elements post.

Do you know the various ways of making a selection?
Post back if you have a problem.

Before I read your latest message,I managed to do it using a bird and a daytime scene.
I used the Magic Wand and some other steps which I don't remember the sequence of but got it done.(Thats another problem remembering what I did, when I'm flying by the seat of my pants).I had a number of different layers but could not save the new pic as a stand alone photo.
Thats the next question, how do I save that photo,it kept saving, but when I opened it up it still had the Elements & Edit Screen.

While in the layers palette, right click and choose flatten image. Then save as in a jpg format. I would also recommend that you submit the photos in question. You may learn a new or better technique. You will be amazed at the different ways to do the same thing. All learning experiences.
Learning to post to Pixentral with Frank's instructions will help you with any present and future questions.

I used the Magic Wand .

Under most situations Magic Wand is the worst tool to use for selecting.
When using the Magic Wand you have to adjust the tolerance so it selects only the item you want and not cut into it.
Too little tolerance will not select enough, and too much will select beyond your intended image edge.
This will require you to either add or take away these areas.
At this point it's important for you to learn how to post an image so you don't have to go into lengthy descriptions, which can never be very clear.
Try it, it won't hurt.
