View Full Version : Printing size question

I have a photo that I have "cropped" to the view we like for a particular location in our house. I then "re-sized" it to roughly 14" long x 6.23" wide (hoping to print it on 11 1/2 x 14 paper and trim away the excess). I turned on the Rulers and I am sure of the size of the photo on my screen.
When I brought it to Moto Photo they are telling me that the photo is much larger than 14" x 6.23" and I will need to crop it again. If I crop it again it ruins the look of the photo in out opinion.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
I can always upload the photo if that would help.

Please go to Image>resize>image size.
Provide values for width & height in inches, and resolution, as they appear on the file that you brought to the photo processor.

I do understand what they are telling you.
Here is one way to go about it. I do it all the time.
Make a new document (i go for 300 dpi, but less will still print nicely), the 11x14 size you want to the paper to be that it is printed on.
Then, bring in your photo that is 14 x 6.23. that will be another layer.
Arrange it how you want.
My advice is to leave a bit of white space at the top too.
Merge the layers, and carry that to them to print as an 11x14. Tell them do not trim anything.
Now, another thing I do, is stick other small photos on my document, so as not to waste the paper.
Hope this makes sense.

"bring in your photo that is 14 x 6.23. that will be another layer"
Yes, but we need to be sure that there is verification of this size.

Ken, I do what I wrote above everytime I print one of my 12x12 scrapbook pages. My page LO is 12x12. I think I now have close to 200 that are printed using the information I mentioned above.
I then create a 12x16 document (because that is the size of the paper it prints on at Sam's club).
IF... I have a couple of 4x6 prints, I plop them on to take up the extra white area. If not, I tell them do not trim and I have extra paper at home.
I've also done CD calendar pages and "put" the pieces onto a 20x30 paper doc. Merge, print and cut.
All he has to do , is drag the original which he said was 14 by 6 ish. It is on another layer. Size it how they like.
Merge.
Save on to a disk and print.

Thanks for the help!!!!!:D
It look like I have what I need so I'm going to Moto photo to see if it actually is the correct size.
