View Full Version : Organiser shows deleted photos

I usually download using Elements but then I prefer to use Picasa to quickly view and prune down my photos. The 'delete' function in Picasa removes the deleted photos from the hard disk (so for instance they don't appear in Windows explorer or Elements editor mode) but when I go to Organiser mode the thumbnails are still there.

Can someone please tell me how to do a general update of the Organiser thumbnails and/or how to select and remove thumbnails that are no longer needed? Thanks very much
Paul

If you delete the photo in Windows or Picasa, you have to also delete the photos in the PSE Organizer.

If you do it the other way around, delete from PSE Organizer while checking "Delete from Hard Disk", I believe then that Picasa will no longer show the photos (in other words, you only have to do it once).

I also can't think of a good reason to use both Picasa and the PSE Organizer. Seems like more trouble than its worth to use both to view/organize your photos, especially since anything you do in Picasa doesn't show up in PSE.

Thanks for the reply - I guess I'll just have to plod through and delete in PSE all the photos I had already deleted in Picasa. Which is a pain- deleting in Organiser also deletes in picasa and it would be really helpful if it also worked the other way round. Why on earth shouldn't it?

The reason I have been using Picasa is that it is really good and really quick for viewing and doing a preliminary cull of the out of focus and other rejects. I also often use it to do a quick adjustment -eg crop or adjust colours - as a non-destructive experiment on a photo that I might otherwise just scrap. Thinking about it, probably the best thing to do is to download via picasa, get rid of the rubbish using picasa, and only then open PSE. That way Organiser never gets its hands on the rubbish!! Many thanks for your help.

Again, I point out that I see no reason to use two programs here. Seems like extra work to me.

You can view and cull in PSE as well.
