View Full Version : Organizer not responding

I have PSE5 and was using it on my old laptop under XP Professional -- no problems. I bought a new laptop -- Vista 64bit and backed up my catalogs (2) on my old laptop and tried to restore them on my new laptop. Whenever I initiate the Organizer, it gets hung and then goes to Not Responding and I have to close it via the Task Manager.

I tried holding down the <Shift> key when starting the organizer and it does prompt me to open a catalog but after I select an existing catalog it goes to Not Responding again. I can create a new catalog and use it but then I end up having the same problems in a future start-up of the Organizer. Today I uninstalled and re-installed PSE5 and I am stilling having problems...but the uninstall did not delete my catalog directory, so maybe the problem resides there (???).

I'm hoping someone can assist me. Is my problem with Vista 64-bit??? Or would upgrading to PSE7 resolve this issue. Help!, I MISS my organizer!!

Have you downloaded and installed the 5.0.2 patch from Adobe for Vista?

As it turns out, I am running 5.0.2 and the problem had to do with the Active File Monitor Service

I found the write-up to turn this off at:
