I have a lovely daughter who has developed a bit of a double chin as the years are rolling by. Does anyone have any ideas how this might be removed? I'm using PSE7.

You can try the liquify tool but a little goes a long way.

I cloned the sweater to hide skin.
Added a few clouds to make the picture busier and give the eye something else to look at as well. Perhaps adding a necklace would help....

Well, this is my quick contribution...
a little bit of liquefy, a lot of cloning, some blurring,
maybe some more work on the neck area needed as per Ken...

I wait to see what this looks like once it is posted.

qaxar -
I had a shot at your photo as well - also using PSE7. :D
My version was treated with:
Clone Stamp Tool (change source often, lowered Clone Stamp Tool opacity to about 65%)
Blur (didn't need that much)
Pearly White Smart Brush for teeth (touch-up)
Levels for color correction
That's it. ;)
When I have the option, I try and take photos of people with the camera slightly higher than them. This makes your subject look slightly up - and thereby removing most double chins. It looks like your photo was taken from below your daughter, making her look down, accentuating any chins.
Good luck,
Steve

Ah Butch - You Da Man!
Great job - I didn't think a GIF file could go that large. I learn something here everyday!
Thanks,
Steve

Here's my attempt. I first tired to even out the skin tone with dodging and burning. Then I used the liquify tool.

To avoid the problem in the first place, take a look at THIS VIDEO (http://www.lookgoodinpictures.com/) for ideas for how to get people to look their best in pictures - there's a couple of suggestions for minimalising double chins.

Decided to take a stab at it. I copied the area from the nose down to the lowest part of the neck and added that as a new layer. I then turned it 50% transparent and stretched it until the shadow on the second chin was underneath the first one. Next I erased any parts I did not want and did some burning, dodging and smudging to smooth out the transitional areas. Also darkened some of the highlights on the side of the neck.

Thanks again to one and all. I really like the result using Dodging and Burning and the Liquifiy tool. I know there are zillions of combinations for using these tools, but i really am a beginner here. Would there happen to be any tutorials that address this overall process?

Thanks for the link. Lots of good ideas there to remember. This picture was a really quick candid snap taken by her 8 year old daughter while they were both standing.
