View Full Version : Question about Codecs

Hello!

My question is a general question about how PE7 does encoding. When I share my videos from Premiere Elements, does it use its own codec to do that or will it find and use whatever codec I have installed on my machine?

I'm new to the whole encode/decode subject and so I hope this question makes sense!

Thanks!

Jim,

I see that you have already gotten your answer from another source.

But, I will just include a brief response here:

Premiere Elements comes with its own codecs
(One example, Main Concept MPEG Video Codec, see Personal Computer/MPEG exports)
But, Premiere Elements does show dependency on the installed latest version of Quicktime for import/export of 3GP, 3GP 2, MOV, MPEG-4, Quicktime
http://www.adobe.com/products/premiereel/systemreqs/

However, the success or failure of playback (decoder) via installed player on computer will be impacted by what codecs came with Windows as well as what codecs came along with the player.

Thank you very much for even more helpful information on this subject! That's exactly what I needed.
