Text Tool & Crashing

Every time that I use the text tool in PSE 5, it is causing the entire program to crash. It's acting very strange whenever I'm using the text tool - very slow, giving me strange effects, etc. But 9 times out of 10, it just crashes. I've tried different fonts, etc. Nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

Has this just started happening or has it happened all the time since you installed Elements ...

... and have you tried deleting the prefs ??

Yes, it just started happening last night, out of nowhere.

Hi ...

Try resetting the Text Tool ... select the Text Tool and then look at the top of the screen. You should see a triangle over on the left, click on that and select reset tool.

If that doesn't help then try deleting the prefs file ..

To do that close down Elements then click on the Editor start up icon and quickly hold down the Control, Alt and Shift keys (Mac users: Command, Option and Shift). Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes. You do have to be quick holding down the keys so if you have problems with it try holding down the keys with one hand before you click on the icon :)

I did both the resetting of the tool and the preferences. Still acting wonky. I'm not sure why its suddenly acting strange. Any other thoughts?

Have you added anything new to your computer recently ??

No, I can't think of anything new ... And it was working fine the day before. It's so strange. I ran a bunch of virus scans just in case something else was causing it. No problems found though. I'm not sure what to try next. So strange.
