Premiere Elements 7 does not have any project presets with 60 fps, see 25 or 30 fps. Can you make one? Probably not, but I never say never. Premiere Elements lets you make "new" project presets, but what is meant by that is changing some of the properties of an existing project preset IF Adobe allows you to do that for a given option in the project preset, in this case HDV 1080i30 changing the 30 fps to 60 fps. If is could be done, it might be done through the WordPad document for the project preset (the path that Robert Johnston took when he created his undocumented inventive proxy edit for HDV
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/390600?tstart=0
But, even if you could write the change into the document, I do not know if Premiere Elements would support it.

But, let us assume that you had a project preset for HDV 1080i60, how would you export it? Windows Media HD1080i30, changing 30 fps to 60 fps under the Advance Button in the export dialog box. Some export routes only offer 25 or 30 fps.

Try shooting in 1080i30, setting project preset to HDV 1080i30, and exporting with HD 1080i30 in the appropriate export format.

Hi ATR,

Thanks for responding!!!

I found some Canon HDV presets for Premiere Pro 2.0 and installed them into Premiere Elements 7.0. I think they work. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3408

I do not have any for 1080/60i...

I thought that you had HDV 1080i60 and wanted a Premiere Elements project preset that would agree with the that import.

Still not clear on where you are going with this in spite of the latest link that you supplied.

How does HDV 1080i60 factor into this picture? Did you mean 1080p60? If so, you can bring that into the Premiere Elements Timeline with a HDV 1080i30 project preset and edit that on the Timeline. The catch is that there is no 1080p60 export, so the closest that you get is ending up having to export 1080i30 anyway.

(It has been a long day. I will re-read your Q&A and see where I missed the track.)

Just an update to this thread....details for NTSC, use PAL counterpart if appropriate....

1. If your camcorder is recording HDV 1080i60 and not HDV 1080i30, the workflow would appear to be:
a. open Premiere Elements 7 and in the New Project dialog set the project preset for NTSC HDV HD 1080i30 since there is no 60 fps in the project presets offered there.
b. bring the HD 1080i60 into Premiere Elements (Get Media/Files & Folders)
c. in Project Media View, right click the file there, select Interpret Footage.
d. in the Interpret Footage dialog, you can set Frame Rate/Assume this footage... and Pixel Aspect Ratio to HD Anamorphic 1080i (1.333) if it is not already.

NBK mentions that he has found and Canon HDV presets for Premiere Elements 7. This brings up the format of 24p and the lack of project preset for it in Premiere Elements 7. This brings up the point, these Canon presets are for 24F, 25F, and 30F, not 24p, 25p, or 30p. Does 24F = 24p? Some say yes, others say no. From what I have been able to determine, Canon captures the footage as interlaced with a frame rate of 24 frames per second and then converts it to progressive with a frame rate of 24 frames per second; whereas, another manufacturer's camcorder captures and records footage as progressive. Whether Canon's "24p" = another brand's 24p is another topic.

At any rate, I have found that downloaded Canon presets (link cited by NBK) do installed well in Premiere Elements 7 and appear in the New Project dialog along with NTSC, PAL, and Custom.

To be continued at a later time....
