Okay...I'm still trying to figure out PhotoShop Elements 7. I watched a tutorial about the magnetic lasso so I was messing around with it. I spent forever outlining a detailed picture and when I was done, I noticed that some how a large portion of a hand was somehow not captured. Do I have to re-do the outline or is there a way to adjust the line that I've already made. I have already gone 360 degrees around the picture and committed all of the anchor points. Any suggestion is always welcome.

Thanks!

When you have the Lasso tool selected, at the top of the workspace, in the options bar, on the left, there are four small icons... the second one is Add to Selection. By clicking on that icon, you can start at the edge of your existing selection, go around the hand and end up at another edge of your selection and it will merge the two.

or... just hold the Shift key down while you're selecting the additional area, you'll see a little plus sign beside your Lasso tool cursor, which means Add To.

JHernandez -

What I would do once your magnetic selection is done is to press and hold the SHIFT key. You will see that your cursor adds a small + to it. Then go over your area that you want to add to the selection.

This actually may be easier if you change tool to the Lasso Selection tool.

If you add too much to your selection, you can subtract from it by pressing and holding the ALT key (cursor adds a small - symbol).

Being able to accurately and (hopefully ;) ) quickly select things is a constant source of frustration for me - so this method is one I use l a lot!. Although I must say I generally start with the Quick Selection tool to get a basic selection then use the Lasso tool to fine tune it.

I'm sure others have their own way to do it - One thing about PSE - there's more than one way to do everything! :D

Good luck,

Steve

I've got it thanks to two of you! Thanks so much. I certainly was not looking forward to having to re-do it. Especially around the hair. Thanks again!
