I mean the vertical bar on the side and the horizontal one on the bottom of the document.I know how to use the space bar and little hand to move around the work area but the two bars are now gone. Went to pse help but to avail.I am using pse6 for the mac. I could probably work without them but--- Can someone help me out, please. Billandcat

Try resetting the PSE preferences.
Holding down the cmd+option+shift launch PSE. When your prompted if you want to reset preferences, click OK.
In the mean time some one may come along with another solution.

Thank you Frank--it worked. Like Staples says- "That was Easy". I have seen that remedy on a lot of posts here on the forum but never used it. Thanks again--BillandCat

Now I have another question---After doing what Frank told me to do and it worked, when I open pse I get a drop down window that tells me that one or more plug-ins not available or failed to down load. The list is rather long but the printing is very small for these old eyes. Can somebody explain this to me please. Is it important? What should I do? Just an old goat, BillandCat

BillandCat, try taking a screen shot of the message about the plug-ins, you can then enlarge it to read.

Go to applications>PSElements>Plug-ins folder and see whether there are any plug-ins. (see below)

Does your Elements work ok?
If it does then keep working with it until someone comes along with an answer.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi Bill ...

I had that when I first installed Elements ... I can't remember what it was that didn't install but it wasn't relevant and didn't affect how Elements ran :)

Thanks Wendy. As far as I know, every thing is running OK. One thing that didn't down load was "Make it better" from Essentials2. I do not use it any how. When I bought pse4 for mac a few years ago, it would not work. Brought the comp. to the Apple Store where the "Guro" removed Twain and the pse4 worked. What is twain? He removed it and put it in a folder and marked it "do not need." Should I have it for pse6? As I know so little about computers I just plug along while enjoying pse. BillandCat

Bill,
I have also gotten that message----iI think this should help.

In Elements go to Help>System Info. Scroll to the end of a very long list. Here you will find a list of Plug-ins that failed to load.

In order to read which plug-ins that failed, I copied that part of the list and pasted it into TextEdit .....then (in TextEdit) I went to Format>Font>Show Font and increased the font size from 9 to 12.

In my case, the plug-ins that failed to load were OS 9 versions and Twain devices (Epson scanners)---Nothing that I need or want. I posted a readable version of my message. Hope this helps.

Thanks Pete and every body that helped. Just think, I not only had my questions answered but I LEARNED more about my computer. "Text Edit"--I thought it had to do with secretarial work! Thanks every one. I can't send email without the spell checker. I have said this before--"Photo Shop keeps me out of bar rooms and from chasing women." But if I did chase someone, if I ever caught one, I will have forgotten why I was chasing her. Bill
