Hi ATR,
I saw this (http://www.worshiphousemedia.com/mini-movies/13553/Thank-You-Mom)and was so impressed; is it possible in PSE5? I am talking about making a family video and this is really great.
Thanks

Vesta,

Very nice. The first thing that I thought of was Premiere Elements PiPs (picture in picture). I need to work on the idea and creating the frames in Photoshop Elements.

Do you have Premiere Elements? Your footnote would suggest that you have Photoshop Elements 4 and 5. Were you not using Premiere Elements 3.0.2? Do you still have it or some other version?

I am thinking away on how I would go about this...looks interesting.

Vesta,

I will start thinking about this. I am not sure about "ready" for Mothers' Day this coming Sunday. If need be, can you distribute IOUs as I plan our strategy?

That is very possible with Premiere Elements but will take much time and many tracks to organize. If you are comfortable with keyframing and using the Timeline it will not be too difficult, otherwise it will be necessary to learn prior to attempting these effects.

We are preparing two book opening effect tutorials at Muvipix which will be available later this month, that should help you with the album opening. You can see previews here http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5313
and here http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=45996#p45996

The rest is just PIP, some nice graphics and titles with a little pan and zoom. The quality of the graphics is excellent and probably purchased. There is a lot of that kind of stuff available on the internet for various prices. There are many graphics companies that sell dozens of graphics on a DVD to churches for special projects just like this.

Here is something with a similar feel from one of the Muvipix Moderators, Beth

She is a huge help when it comes to putting this kind of stuff together.

Well then we should be able to get something accomplished in not too much time at all :)

I think Mother's Day is a little to ambitious but in the next week or so should be possible.
That's a lot to put together in only two days.

Vesta,

I will update you on the timing prognosis by tomorrow morning.

What is the problem with your web site "video streaming server"? The link cited opens, but the video does not load. And, I do not have dial up, rather high speed DSL.

Not having any problems, I have checked the video on two computers and had another person check it as well. What browser are you using?
What if you click on the link below the video, does Windows Media Player open the video then? It is just a small WMV file.

Thanks for checking. It opens fine now, same everything as before. Have you had problems with it recently?

No, not at all. We just got our own server a few months ago and everything has been working very well.

ATR that is a nice thought (Vesta is a pro) but one project that I had to learn a lot of things doesn't qualify me for Pro status, but it is a worthy ambition. I do love learning and I am not one to give up on a project without a struggle.

This is not for Mother's Day just want to do this on a small scale of our Florida vacation first then other things next, maybe a church project later.

Chuck the video Beth did is excellent, thanks for the links and I am looking forward to your new offers. Chuck the color transitions would be so nice to figure out. Did she use Premeire Elements for her project?

Chuck Engels

For that project I am pretty sure she did, that was a while ago.
She has since moved up to Premiere Pro and After Effects and is doing even more amazing things with video and photos.

There isn't much you can't do in Premiere Elements, it just might take a little more work to make it happen :)

For your project the first thing to do is to get some graphics together that you want to use for the album, the pages, any borders or frames, stuff like that. Once you have the graphics you need we can help you start putting it all together.

Vesta,

I started on trying to create some graphics for the project since the rest of the story is quite easy, that is, putting it together since it is essentially an exercise in Premiere Elements Pips (picture in picture).

Do you want me to follow up on this also or are you all settled?

Yes I want you with me in this whole thing if you are up for it. I haven't got started yet as I was wanting to know if it was possible in Pe 3, and I have been so busy carving my fanbirds to use up my wood. Now that I know that it is a go. I want to start this off right with the graphics, size of the photos and of course the video I want to include. I also want to make sure that I chose the right settings for the project from the beginning. I want to view it on Tv and my son as HD while the rest of us don't. I am looking forward to doing this and hope to have it for June when I visit my daughter.

Vesta,

I started working on "book" options in Photoshop Elements last night in between Henry's posts on Quicktime Pro Fast Start issues. Creating an opened book with two adjacent pages showing pictures was easy. Next I want to see what I can do with a turning the pages of a book look.

Later today/tomorrow I will try to get to working on individual pages and placing frames with photo corners, picture in picture, and those pans & zooms, and so forth. Those are all can dos.

I did not want to get too far into this unless you wanted me to. There is nothing worse than a back seat driver when you do not need one.

I take it you just need a generic opened or opening book setup rather than one targeted at Mothers' Day or any specific event. Not so long ago, I got involved in suggesting a "graphics from scratch" for a spinning globe for Premiere Elements. I thought it looked great, but the person requesting the information in the long run opted for a professionally made globe graphic. I will also search online to see what is out there for the picking with regard to your project.

Onward.....

There is a new free tutorial by one of the muvipix moderators on opening a book and page turn. It is very well done and worth checking out for this project.

In one of your other posts, you mentioned that you had something in the works at your site re: opening book technique in a video tutorial (if I recall correctly).

Is Chris's link what you were referring to? Or, is there more to come?

I will have a video tutorial coming out later this month covering a book opening and page turn. My method is a bit easier but does not look nearly as professional as the one that Chris did. It is still a nice effect and will be useful if you need something quick. Here is what mine looks like
