Using the text tool

I have a laptop and somehow I've managed to click something that is keeping me from using my text tool to type on any photo, locked or unlocked. Its probably something stupid that I've done but I can't seem to find it to turn it off. Can anyone help?

Be sure that you are using the type tool, not the type mask tool

Try resetting the tool. Depending on your version of Elements, there is either a T symbol to the left in the options bar, or another symbol (?arrow) which brings up the dialog

If this fails to rectify the problem, suggest that you reset preferences.

You can do this by: When PSE launches and you see the welcome screen, Keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift pressed on your keyboard and then click on the Editor button. This will give you a prompt to reset the preferences, click OK. Now you editor would launch with the preferences reset.
