View Full Version : 5.0 Locks up

Photoshop Elements 5.0 locks up when starting up and it runs the autodownload of new images. This started a couple of weeks ago. Because of this I can use it at all and the only way out of it seems to be to use the Windows Task Manager to end the program.
I am running current windows xp on a dell.

I'm not sure what you mean by "autodownload of new images". Does a Window pop-up that looks like (click to see full-size):

If so, then see this thread:

If not, then post a screen shot of what you see, or describe it more precisely.

Perfect. That is the window I get. Then a blank window opens and after that nothing happens. Thanks for answering.

Thank you, John. Your fix worked with my XP system.

Problem resurfaced. It has something to do with Elements trying to import videos from my cell phone camera.
My solution is to make sure I don't import videos; I'm only interested in photos anyway.
I used your 'fix' again, today, to break the cycle and now my Elements is just hunkey dorey!
Thanks you once again
