Hi

On my Intel Core 2 Duo box, I have tried Premiere Elements 3.02, 4.0 and 7.0 to no avail. The record button will not work. I can only capture DV with Windows Movie Maker 2.

I did manage to capture with PRE 3.02 on a Pentium 4 box.

Thanks

There are issues with capturing from the HV30 to Premiere Elements. Many of the users have had much success using HDVSplit (free HDV capture program) and/or WinDV (Free Standard Def capture program) depending on if you are downconverting in the camera on capture or not. HDVSplit provides more functionality than Premiere Elements for HDV capture anyway so it is a good tool to use. Import of the clips to Premiere Elements is seamless and the clips require no rendering (no red line above clips). This has been a problem with the HV30 since it came out and the use of HDVSplit is a solid, quick fix.

but I am not sure this would be the problem due to your being able to capture with Movie Maker.

Sorry about the setback.

OK, now is the time to see what HDVSplit can do. Install that on the Intel Core 2 Duo and see if you can use HDVSplit for the capture. I suspect it will work since you said that you can capture the Canon video into Windows Movie Maker 2.

As I was typing I noticed a post by CE which was not there when I started typing, but I will post my suggestion anyway.

Please let us know the outcome.

Add on.....

Although a problem may have the same symptoms as another, the cause for each may be different.

So, it will be interesting to compare capture of Canon video in the Intel 2 Duo Core with HDVSplit results versus Windows Movie Maker 2 (assumed in Intel 2 Duo Core also).

Thanks for your responses,

I was able to capture on my Intel Core2 Duo box with WinDV, but without sound in Windows Media Player. It plays fine in PRE 7.0!

Sounds like progress.

Keep up the good work. Please keep us updated on your projects with your new Canon and Premiere Elements.

Hi

I have to use WinDV for SD and HDVSplit for HDV on my Intel Core 2 Duo box.

I plan to install PRE 7.0 on my Pentium 4 box later to see if capture works.

Thanks

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to even more updates.

How is the quality of the video that you have captured so far?

It looks like we have another Canon HV30 capture thread. I referenced this thread there.
