Subject matter for this week's theme is going to be unfortunately far too easy to find. The theme is roadside litter. Bonus points will be awarded if, after you take your shot and if you're able to, you pick up the litter. Thanks to Steven for the theme idea.

Have fun. Oh, and wash your hands! ;-)

Taking your guideline to heart, we set out this morning with a plastic bag to gather litter on our "roadside" - the shore along which we walk.

After we filled the plastic bag, we found the black thermal bag and filled it, and eventually put all of it, and more, in the plastic carrier.

There was lots of plastic "bits", one wrecked flip-flop, a fireworks canister, one broken beer bottle, two beer cans (which went in recycling), tons of rope pieces of all sorts, and the best bit - the jawbone of something! A good morning's work! (Great idea, Steven.)

Cheers,
Helen

Took a stroll around a local park today to check on the condition of the trails (I'm on the trail committee). Imagine my surprise when I found someone had driven in and dumped an old garden shed. It even has junk inside and the roof is dumped a short distance away. The police will be investigating to see if they left any clues in the junk.

Reminded me of a sign I saw in the UK a couple of weeks ago. It will really confuse non-brits but if you want to know what it means look here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fly-tipping)

I was so impressed by Helen's story that when I saw a paper bag on my walk today I said ... why not?? Thanks Helen!

Litter? We've got litter! Someone dumped this old fridge on the road into our sub-division!!! Some people never seem to amaze me!!! It could be the some ones who left an old sofa on the other end of our street not too long ago. It did disappear later today.

I didn't know if I was going to be able to do this challenge or not since there has been very little break in the rain this week. You know all that rain we were praying for the last two years, well the Lord finally got the memo and he sent it to us all at one time.
The sun did come out some today, and I rushed out to find some litter. Sadly, I didn't have to go far. Yes, I did pick it up.

I took so many photos. I have a trilogy of a juice box, a fork gone bad and MORE--shots of trashed lined up against the fence, porta potties that should be outlawed. The amount of litter on the baseball field was ridiculous. I chose to post the picture that somehow was least offensive to my sensibilities.

I walked the alleys today, but couldn't find much in the way of wayward trash. It must be due to the sterling work my town's sanitary engineers perform! I did find this toter in need of dumping. It belongs to a ballet school, so I imagine it is filled with tutus and flat toed slippers.

Went on a 7 mile hike with dh on Monday. Must say I was quite impressed. This is the only piece of litter we saw, but I'm afraid I get no brownie points for picking it up as it was near the beginning and I needed both hands for negotiating rocks, tree roots etc.:o

This is my Roadside trash picture, this arch is 1 of 10 across the LA River @ 1st street in Los Angeles. When built in the 1930's I'm sure they meant for someone to stop and view the city from the little area under the arch but nowdays the homeless use these for their homes and when they move on they leave the trash behind, Did I pick thus up, nope meaning no bonus points for me. Its fruitless to try and keep up with what they leave behind.

Well, I didn't feel like bending over and picking up garbage today, so I took another much more eco-friendly approach to the theme.:D

We only get bag pickup every other week, but blue and green bins every week. My roadside garbage shot is all recycled.

The garbage truck had just gone down this street. The crew did empty the cans, but also left some garbage lying around. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to perform a good deed -- a guy came out of the house to clean up the mess. Needless to say, he was quite surprised to see me kneeling on the sidewalk and shooting his garbage. I felt obliged to explain myself. It was easy. All I had to say was: "Bill made me do it.";):D

I don't have a tall enough ladder to get rid of this litter. The streets I was on this week were remarkably tidy.
