Whoa, I'm off work this week, so litter will be harder to find!
Are you on the road, Bill? You posted on Mountain Time!:D

Bad timing ... sadly I'm sure you'll have no problems finding trails of messy people. Enjoy your vacation!

Bill - Say, I am pleased that you did your own litter run! If only our jobs were now finished! A new lot will be in on the next tide.
I was interested in the bottle you found. I had to google "kefir" as I had never heard the word before. I found a great blog whose title for the day of the article was "Kefir? I hardly even know her!" Apparently it's terrific for the intestinal tract.
Tony - I am sure that the garden shed will win the prize for largest litter. I am still laughing at "Fly Tippers". I had to look as I had no idea what it meant. When we were in London last month, I collected images of signs as I found so many of them really funny! One of my favourites (sadly we were past it before I could get my camera out) read "Weak Road"; another, in the British Museum asked very politely "Please do not climb or sit on the plinth".
Cheers,
Helen

I had a "litter" collage complete and all ready to post and then I saw that Helen and Bill cleaned up the litter they found. So needless to say I deleted my collage and will go back and pick up all of the litter that I found!!

Tony, that's litter with a capital L. I keep staring at that image and shaking my head. What were they thinking?

Helen, I hope your bag doesn't contain any of those mysterious severed feet washing ashore in BC!

Steven :eek::eek: - the strange story of the severed feet is an unsolved mystery (except for the one that was supposed to have washed ashore at Campbell River - which turned out to be a deer's foot stuffed into a runner!)
While we did pick up a broken flip-flop (which sort of satisfies the shoe part of the story), at least the skeletal bit was not a foot, but a jawbone (at least I think those were teeth and not toes!), and there were no socks at all. :D
Cheers,
Helen

Sepiana, that's not garbage, that's all ree-sye-kling! Except for what looks like dryer lint, and that's compost!:)

Hi Steve, thanks for the clarification! You're correct. Now I can blame the right people for leaving it behind -- the recycling crew.
I didn't know one can compost dryer lint. If I knew that, I could have asked the guy if I could take it for my compost pile.:)

Sepiana,
I am surprised to see aluminium (a nod to our real-English-speaking bretheren) cans survived to be picked up (or strewn on the sidewalk) the next day!!
In my town, there are bicycle-mounted individuals who patrol the neighborhoods on recycle-bin-day (alternating weeks with the green-waste bins). They somehow posses the largest plastic bags known to mankind, which they fill with gleanings from folks' recycle bins, and subsequently balance on their handlebars while pedaling to the redemption centers.
Those four cans would probably not have hit the ground...

Byron, quite a scene to behold. We could use some of those people. Send them up here!:)

Nice job this week folks ... we've left the world a small bit cleaner than we found it.
Helen - You really set the bar this week. The haul from your beach walk made for a compelling photo with plenty of fun lines, colors and objects. Thanks for the kick start and for cleaning up your stretch of the beach.
TonyW - That was the clubhouse of my dreams when I was a kid .... I can't believe someone tossed it, especially leaving the roof nearby. Nice find for the theme. The dandelions seem to be popping a bit and it looks like you're starting to see some buds on those trees ... it won't be long now and you'll be out enjoying your trails on a regular basis.
Katy - That's litter alright, and frightening too with the door still on it! I'm glad it's been claimed. You got a pretty powerful photo out of it while it was there.
Clara - That's too bad that you didn't have to go very far for your photos. Your shots are both excellent though .. the juice container is so sharp it looks like I could reach into my monitor and throw it away myself if you hadn't already done so. Nice photography as always .... and very appropriate for the theme.
Linda - Thanks for using your good discretion with the subject matter .. it sounds like you did us all a big favor. Hang on to the 'fork gone bad' shot though ... you can use it for 'cutlery' in your blog! ;-) Nice entry Linda .. good colors and composition!
Steven - I'm glad to know mine is not the only garbage can that's filled with tutus and flat toed slippers. Oh wait ... forget I said that ok?:o
Nice shot Steven and your treatment serves it well.
Bayla - I sure don't blame you ... when the bottle is mostly full of 'something' it's hard to motivate yourself to pick it up, even at the end of the walk. Nice shot Bayla with a nice, high 'queasy factor'.
TonyK - That's sad on a lot of levels, but a very poignant image that suits the theme quite well.
Gary - That's the neatest, most organized setting I've ever seen! The bins are lined up perfectly right next to the driveways, the mower tracks in the lawn are parallel with the curb and with the exception of one renegade across the street, the blue bins are all on the same side of the green ones. Congrats on a great photo, and to your community for having such a progressing recycling program. It looks like you too are getting some budding action on the trees ... a good sign for sure!
Sepiana - "Bill made me do it" should work to get you out of most jams. It's used with some frequency around my home and work, and is usually met with a knowing roll of the eyes. What a powerful shot that is. I'm glad someone spared you the part of cleaning it up.
Toni - What a shot! The colors and composition are perfect for it, and your selective focus on the fly is just priceless. If anyone hasn't looked at the full size image I hope they'll go back and give it a look. Great job.
Ellen - I hope it's 'just' toilet paper that was done as a prank ... but it looks like it might be plastic that will be up there for a while creating all sorts of havoc for the birds. I'm glad your streets were clean though! Nice shot.
Great job again this week everyone ... you did a nicejob turning trash into art.

Thanks Bill, what a good theme, Tony W's was especially amazing. It was plastic in the trees, shopping bags most likely. Sad that everyone found stuff so readily except of course Steven's tutus. (that was fun to type- Steven's tutus Steven's tutus Steven's tutus..)

Thanks Bill..I dont usually make it in time for your ever so insightful comments so it is always a treat.
Yup.. I mowed the neighborhood just for the shot and those renegades ..well every street needs to have one.:D
Just another Pleasant Valley Sunday.;)

Thanks Bill. My selective focus is usually a bit of 'hit and miss' so I was really pleased it worked on this occasion.

Thanks so much, Bill, for your great comments. I always have to go back and look at each picture as I read your comments. Your photo was great. I love the perspective and detail. I have yet to figure out what Kefir is though. Sounds like something left over from the 60's.

Thanks for the comments, Bill. And as a former ballet/tap dancer (as a tyke) I imagine at one time my household trash did hold my slippers, but no tutu. Sorry, Ellen!
