I need to finish up a book for X-mas! Help. What gets you guys inspired to scrapbook? I'm from the old school of doing it manually. Maybe I should think about digitally - I just don't know where to start w/ that besides scanning all the picts.

Can you guys give me a few tips?

Should I go digital - if so how and what inspires you to finish a project (besides deadlines!!)

Definitely digital! If you are near a bookstore there is a new magazine out right now "Simple Scrapbooking - Digital #4" It will give you lots of ideas and lots of free resources . There are also lots of links to digital resources in the Helpful links section of this forum. Good luck!:)

A Scrapbook can be a story told with few words but lots of pictures. So, by looking at any scrapbook, I should be able to "read" the story without needing much explanation. Friends who have participated at an event will want to share how they lived it (escalating a mountain, jumping off a plane, building a church, etc.), familly growing up together, etc.

It can be a collection of images around which people will gather and tell their own little story. So, instead of telling a story by itself, the grouping and arranging is different, leaving room for people to comment. Like a photo book you buy showing one artist work. People will like to sit around and comment. It usually works better if you can make it a DVD and show it on a big TV screen, which everyone gathered around and telling their story as the pictures roll on the screen (pressing pause between pages)

Last year, I did a scrapbook of close to 100 pages. It told the story of a little girl who grew up, got to school, then to high school, found her first job, her first boyfriend, first public appearance (she's an amateur model), etc. There was a logical progression in the book and with no words, you could actually read her story. Her familly and friends were very touched. I also did a few photo tricks (border breakout, for example). There was this one picture... I cut her face and put her in a group portrait of the Spice Girls (she liked them a lot at a certain time) so it was her face on all the five girls. You could undertsand, without words, she liked them that much :)
