1) Is there a shortcut command to mute the audio when moving the cursor in reverse?
2) Is there a shortcut command to automatically begin the project at the start point?

Not one that I have found (Take a look at Edit Menu/Keyboard Shortcuts). The only thing that I can think of is going into the Audio Mixer and checking "Mute" for the audio track.

To bring the Timeline Indicator to the beginning of the Timeline, hit the Home Key on the keyboard to the right of the main computer keyboard.
To bring the Timeline Indicator to the content on the Timeline, hit the End Key on the keyboard to the right of the main computer keyboard.
The following is a list of Premiere Elements 7 Keyboard Shortcuts that is posted online:

Hope all is progressing well.

I'm paging through the (many) threads to learn what I can, and came across this.
Thanks so much for the shortcuts. The manual (PE7) has a chapter on Keyboard shortcuts - but only gives details about how to create your own. The timeline navigation shortcuts are especially useful.
Thank you ATR.
Now, if I can just find how to play only a selected clip. (Especially a title clip - but with all the tracks.) Do I have to set markers each time? With Nero, I could select to play either the clip or the whole movie.

Are you referring to the playback of your Timeline as a DVD-VIDEO or the playback of your Timeline as one of the exports under Share/Personal Computer?
If it is as DVD-VIDEO, then Main Menu page with its Play All and Scene Menu buttons and click Play All to do just that. And if you want just a specific scene, then click on Scene Menu on the Main Menu page to get to the Scene Selection page and click on the scene you want. Main Menu Markers on the Timeline are linked to Menu Menu buttons, Scene Markers on the Timeline are linked to Scene Selection page buttons.
If it is other, then that is another story.

Hello ATR;
No, I'm referring to playback on the time line.
Each time I edit a title (for instance) I like to playback that segment.
It seems I have to move the cursor to the edit point, then play.
But it keeps playing, so I have to click pause, then return the cursor again.
Is there a quick way to play just the clip I'm working on?

Tom,
I am still pondering this question.
No perfect solution has come to mind. Either there is not one or I have a giant mental block for now.
As long as there is nothing on any of the tracks that goes beyond the end of the Title, the Timeline Indicator will stop at the end of the Title on the Timeline on playback in the Monitor.
Home Key gets you to the beginning of the Timeline, not the beginning of a selected clip.
End Key gets you to the end of the Timeline, not the end of a selected clip.
Even repositioning the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar does not help
(ALT + [ for the right gray tab and ALT -] for the left gray tab).
Arrow Keys can be used to nudge the position of the Timeline Indicator. Holding down the Shift Key and using the arrow keys makes the nudging to a larger degree. But that does not really help the cause in question. UNLESS, you hold down the Shift Key and hold down the right arrow key for playback. BUT, then again you could just use the spacebar to control the start and stop of the video clip playback.
I need to go consider all this further.

Page Up will move to the previous edit point if that helps. Then you can press Page Up until you get to the point you want and press the Play button. But better yet ...
Pressing Enter will play the clip from the beginning of the Work Area Bar.
If you set the work area bar over only the clips you are working on all you have to do is press the Enter key ;)

That is one way to get the Timeline Indicator to stop at the end of your Title at the finish of playback.
You still have to move the Timeline Indicator to the beginning of your Title as well as reset the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar (with the mouse cursor or those shortcuts that I mentioned). But, what you are essentially doing when you press that Enter key is "Rendering" that area spanned by the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar (and in the process creating temporary preview files which will be saved to wherever you have your scratch files directed). The latter does not happen if you skip the Work Area Bar involvement and just do a Monitor playback of a Timeline segment using the spacebar (for start and stop)or other navigational tools to do so). But then again in this latter process the Timeline Indicator keeps going unless there are no clips that extend beyond the end of the Title.
In the Rendering technique, you could also consider whether you want to have Edit Menu/Preferences/General with the "Play work area after rendering previews" checked or unchecked.
That are my thoughts on this for now.
Please let us know what you decided what worked for you workflow.

I am retreating from one of my previous comments.....
You still have to move the Timeline Indicator to the beginning of your Title...
That is more or less automatic when you hit the Enter Key of the computer main keyboard.

Thanks Guys;
I suspect the program is not set up for this.
I'm coming from NeroVision where you have the choice of playing the project or the clip. It's a great help to have playback stop automatically when I keep altering a title or transition until it seems right. Perhaps this is a consideration for a future version of PE.
NeroVision, however, won't do SloMo, and the transitions and effects aren't as sophisticated.
Thanks again.
