I'm a new user of PSE7 & am still trying to find if there's a way to eliminate flower petal edge flare from some flower pics i took with a point & shoot camera

Hi Elfbob. A few things could be causing that 'flare'. One is over sharpening. I'm not sure that's the cause here though. The rest of the pic doesn't look over sharpened. But when you sharpen look at the edges to see if get that type of artifact.

Here it almost looks like purple fringe or chromatic aboration. Sometimes certain lenses are more prone to doing that. To correct that try going to hue/saturation and then decreasing the amount of magenta saturation and see if that helps.

Also when I look again at your pic, it looks like maybe you added some blur to the shot? If you did, the blur effect might be skewing colors and might cause some strange artifacts as well.
