Problem saving as a version set- Elements 5.0

After editing a photo I have always without problem saved the photo in a version set.
Now even when the save in version set box is ticked photos do not save in a version set. They save as another separate item but via the watched folder route.
I run elements 5.0 with windows xp service pack 2
I have tried via windows the system restore to a previous earlier date but this has not solved the problem.
Any help very much appreciated

Hi Chris,

I have PSE5 and this used to happen to me,
try file/catologue/recover.

That seems to do the trick :)
