Is there a skin available that will change the colors from dark gray to something where the print is more legible (& perhaps more lively)?

Sorry, Miles, there is no way to change the dark interface in PSE6.

Thankfully Adobe changed things in PSE7 to make the shade adjustable and hopefully all future versions will have the same ability .

You can change the canvas color... to any color you like (through the right click menu), but you can not change the colors in PSE 6... PSE 7 gives you that flexibility.
