I'd like to see the ability to have layer masks in Elements. Why can we have masks to the adjustment layers, but can't add masks to the layer itself as we do in Photoshop?

You can add Layer Masks, you just need to have to download an add-on like Grant' Tools (http://www.cavesofice.org/~grant/Challenge/Tools/Files.html) or Elements+ (http://simplephotoshop.com/downloads/index.htm#elem+) .

This is something that we nagged away at Adobe for a long time ... but it seems like this is one thing that they just won't add to Elements.

Thankfully addons like the ones Johnny mentioned are available :)

Thanks for the headsup on the add-ons. I've been working in roundabout ways to
get things done that could have been done easier with layer masks.

I successfully downloaded Grant's Tools and can now have a layer mask for every layer!

Thanks for this information! The video that explains what to do really helped.

I just went and purchased Elements 7.0 Grants Tools has no patch for 7.0 and I went to download Elements+ and Norton told me there was a trojan horse attached to it. Just putting it out there has anyone else noticed this with Elements+?

Dutch,

There is not a PSE7 version of Grant's Tools, but from what I gathered from a few posts, the version for PSE6 will work for PSE7. Check out this thread, and post #8 may help you out in installing it.

I have Elements+ for both PSE6 and PSE7. I also have Norton 360 and I do not recall getting a "Trojan Horse" warning while installing. I would send an email to Andrei to see if he can help you out.
