Val -

That's an option that I hadn't even thought of. I stand my my statement that we'll have a lot of interesting interpretations.;)

Only you, Val! You crack me up! Fun one Bill, but I have to admit, I have to think about this one for awhile....

This was quite fun. I love words and found "wind" to be fun. Google the word Heteronyms. Quite interesting!! (If you're a word person!!!)

I really liked the first two photos. Mine (in large) appears to be quite grainy. I'm hoping that will improve when I can make it "normal". Thanks in advance for any assistance on that front.

Margaret,

if you use save for web, on the right hand side of the screen is a panel where you can put in the dimensions (I usually use 800 pixels for the longest side), then click apply,

Lisa - love that amazing blue sky!! Looks extra good today - it's gray and rainy in northern Illinois.

Norma - great balloon - and that sky is awesome!

Val,
Very creative, I guess you could double up and use again if Global Warming is the subject......

Wonderful and varied takes already! I especially love Clara's.

When does this one end? I have an idea but can't take the picture until late Saturday........

Amy,

Bill usually posts a new theme late on Saturday - but there's nothing wrong with adding to this theme after you've gotten your image, even if there's a new theme working.

That was a gust of really good images this week!

Val – I have to admit I didn’t see that one coming. Great interpretation and a nice crisp shot.

Margaret – Welcome back! You did a fine job in interpreting the theme in an ‘out of the box’ manner. Nicely done.

Lisa – Great colors and a really sharp shot. Including part of the wall in your composition made the photo much more interesting.

Norma – As with Lisa’s shot, including a reference point at the bottom of the frame did a lot to make an interesting image. Your description brought back memories of living in an area with quite a few balloons and doing the same thing at the sound of the ‘firing noise’. Pretty shot.

Helen – Cool shot .. is that Boreas in the lamp base?? The flag in the distance does appear to be pretty stiff in the wind.

Sharon – That’s hilarious! Your pooch looks like the car is going down the road at a pretty good rate of speed. What an expressive face he has.

Clara – That thing is really spinning!! It looks like you applied whatever techniques you learned because that’s a very nice photo! The finishing border and tone is perfect for it. Make mine an outlaw burger please!

Kim – It looks like that particular flag has seen more than its share of wind. Nice job freezing it in place, and I love the spring time colors of the budding tree.

Deborah – That’s a fabulous image! You captured just the right amount of blur to give the sense of motion, but there’s enough clarity (especially in the white stripes) so give it great contrast and texture. I really like this one. Good interpretation on the second shot too, and a nice effect with the wind filter on the title.

Tammy – I’m glad you combined both images … it’s fun to see how different the dragonfly ornament looks as the individual components move.

Eleanor - Nice shot … there’s just enough wind for a gentle chop on the water. It makes me want to find a fishing pole and a can of worms. Your second shot shows some pretty brave crows … the parent instinct is certainly powerful this time of year isn’t it?

Steven – Eight or nine mph sounds a lot better than 92! It’s an interesting photo too, the seriousness of the books is complemented well by the toy top. Glad you found your misplaced Archie book … this is just one more example of how the photo themes can help.

Doris – Fun shot with the faces blowing the wind in the clouds, and another good use of the wind filter. (Oh, and you’re not that old!! ;) )

TonyK – Those are beautiful trees and they certainly show the sculpting power of the wind and elements. I’m glad they’re still around … when I planted them I wasn’t sure if they’d last. ;)

Bryon – Glad I could be there for you. I go into these themes each week with an idea of some of the shots we might see … for the second time this week “I didn’t see this one coming.” Nicely done.

TonyW - The greens of spring are among my favorite colors, and I think the willow captures them best. Very nice shot … congratulations on having made it (or nearly so at least) through winter. I know with a couple of your recent images we could SEE the cold … this has to be refreshing for you!

Linda – Beautiful shots … I especially like the first one where we can see the ‘source’ of the wind off to the side. Wonderful composition and theme interpretation.

Ellen – A nice, richly textured shot as usual. Your dof is spot on and just deep enough to keep the rope interesting enough for the eye to follow. Well done … you do these shots so well. (Any news on your monitor??)

Toni – I don’t know anything about the real estate market in SW Australia, but the good folks at Acton might be on the receiving end of a double whammy. Nice image, and I like seeing some people on the path.

Jerry – Welcome to the photo themes … I glad you joined us. Palms blowing in the wind are a perfect way to represent the theme. It looks like you found a pretty nice place to watch them too. Nice entry … I hope you’ll join us again!

Sepiana – Looks like just the gentlest of breezes. Very subtle and a nice way to show the theme. Well done … and of course, as Val points out, you get double credit because your avatar is theme related too. Figuring out what the heck to do with double credit will be another challenge. ;-)

Great entries this week folks … and there’s still plenty of time for more.

Bill - as is often the case, you see more in my photos than I see myself! I had not seen either of the flags in the far distance. By that time I was too wrapped up in the idea of "wind" rather than "wind". :D

Not knowing Boreas at all, I have googled all the various Greek gods of wind. My guy did not particularly look like any of them. I am going to say that he is Neptune, God of the Sea. I think he looks more like him, and is on the lamp post with fish. Maybe?

Cheers,
Helen

... I was too wrapped up in the idea of "wind" rather than "wind". :D

That happens to me a lot too Helen. ;)

I had to google 'god of wind' to learn about Boreas as well. Neptune is probably right ... it was a long shot but it would have been a happy coincidence. Regardless, your fish is nicely wound around the post!

There's a "Boreas Pass" in Colorado...the highest post office in the US once sat there (the building remains are now left for visitors to explore as they hike, cycle, or ride horseback up and over the Continental Divide from Breckenridge to Como). Sure is windy up there - now I "get" the name!

Thanks Bill as ever, your osprey is fantastic. The tracking thing said that my monitor is in Portland, have you seen it? Should be here Mon. and I'll be able to see what I've been doing the last month and get back to the tennis game.

Thanks for your comments, Bill. The photo challenge always affords some great opportunities, such as finding lost items, eating sushi (!), noticing neglected areas of the yard, being forced to clean the house prior to shooting a photo, um, wait a minute! The challenge creates work!:D
