Hi,
I used to do cross stitch, but had to stop.
After doing paper pricking effects in pse6, I wondered if I could
do digital tapestry.
My attempts have not been great, My pic. is of a real one I did years ago!
It would go well in scrapbooking or cardmaking with a pricked effect border!
Any advice to improve would be great!

I am interested in see your work but the thumbnail is to small to see the details. Perhaps post something close up so we can see what it is you are doing.

There is a post here with a link to a cross stitch effect tutorial that we used for a challenge several years ago. I hope it is something you can use.

Thanks for tip, anything is worth trying, I have pse 6 and can't seem to change pattern size.
What I have managed to do, (getting there, but can't get stitch to look like thread, not plastic!!!!) I created a brush using two layers so the cross over shows!
I'll attach one I managed to do,
many thanks again

That looks really good. Below is one I did using the tutorial above and using the X downloaded from the tutorial link.

A month or so ago I had the bright idea of using that x -stitch downloaded from the tutorial or the letter x and, using the grid as a guide, placing stitches in the grids following a cross stitch pattern. It was extremely tedious and I soon gave up (it was either give up or go nuts or blind or both!!)

That gives a very good effect.
I went the eye hurting way and follow a chart (good brain excercise)
I colour the brush to the chart colour.
I can only do small ones that way though!!
It is fun .
I'll keep trying things though, sometimes you do something by mistake, and the effect is great.
Thanks

That looks very real, Matha. I'll have to try the tutorial.

Thanks, Carol. I think that the effect looks pretty realistic and it is certainly much easier than trying to follow a cross stitch chart and go X by X.
Morag, I'd really like to see what you come up with next!
