Hi I was wondering if anyone out there could help me out. I know how to take someone out of one picture and put them into another picture. I would like to know how to put the person like they are standing behind a car, or standing behind a counter if you know what I mean.
Example: I have a picture of a car parked on the street, I want to take a person from another picture and move him into the picture with the car. Now I want to have that person looking like they are standing on the other side of the car. The same thing with a counter or a bar picture and move the person so it looks like they were standing behind the bar or counter when the picture was taken.
I am new at this, so plain English please..:)
Thanks
Drew

Hi Drew,
Copy the person to the photo with the car and move the person's layer above the car layer.
Resize the person proportionately to the car and position as desired.
Temporarily lower the opacity of the person layer enough so you can see the car clearly.
Use the Polygonal Lasso tool to select the shape of the part of the car that should be in front of the person by clicking around it until the start point and end point of the selection meet.
Making sure the person layer is active, press the Delete key to delete the part of the person that the car would be hiding.
Raise the opacity of the person layer back to 100%.
Hope this is understandable to you.

Drew,
You are familiar with how to select the person, and then copy/paste them into the other document... so when you paste them, they appear on a new layer.
You'll need to select the new layer, Transform it to resize it so they look proportional to where they're going, position it where you want them, and then erase the parts of them that would be obscured by the object in the image if they were really behind it.

Like in this example, I erased the image of the key to let the candle show through - giving the illusion that the key might be behind the candle.
I know, it's a rough example - but the concept should hold.

Byron
edit: Looks like Diana was typing up a much better set of instructions while I was off drawing pictures!! :p
