Bonnie, because your image is square and you want a rectangular print, either you need to crop the square image (lose part of it) so it will fit, or print the entire image and have big white areas. Which do you prefer?

If it is the 4x6 crop, choose the Crop tool, set the dimensions in the options bar to 4X6, and drag out the crop box to cover the area of the image you want to keep, and commit the crop. Now print.

If you want to keep the entire image, drag the crop box out so that it gives you all the image, plus extra open space, and then commit. That will fill the open space with the background color.

As an alternative, you can also take your square image directly to the print menu and set it to fit to paper/media. Choose the 4x6 paper in Page Set Up and give it a try.
