I am having problems saving image files when using Elements 7. This is happening with images previously saved on my PC.
I have been creating large 16 bit files from scanned b&w negatives, for archiving. I am then opening each file separately in Elements and making limited adjustments (flipping the image), before creating an 8 bit copy for further editing.
I am resaving after the initial adjustment. However, when I do this, an error box comes up saying "Could not save to...(folder and file name)... because file name was not valid". On trying a second time, another error box comes up saying "Could not save because file is locked. Use Properties command in Windows Explorer to unlock file". Sometimes, a third attempt is saved without any problem. Otherwise, I get round the problem by saving the file as a copy. At other times I am able to save the changes with no problem at all. Can somebody let me know what's happening here?
