How do I change the color, texture, etc.. of pre-made elements such as flowers, ribbons, backgrounds etc.. for ditigal scrapbooking needs? Is that even possible?

Try this... Click the Foreground color chip to select a color. Press Ctrl-U to get the Hue/Saturation Dialog. In that window, click to put a checkmark in the Colorize box. Now you can adjust the color even more by dragging the Saturation slider and/or the Lightness slider. If you drag the Hue slider, you can even change the color, if you desire.

Hope this does what you need.

Hi eadegraff

How successful it is to change the colour of elements very much depends on the actual elements itself ... if you have a complex one with several colours and/or shadows then changing the overall colours using H&S may not work too well.

For example a flower that has green leaves will lose the green when you use H&S

For the more complex ones you get a better result by selecting one colour from the element (using the magic wand) and then use H&S. That means that only the area you selected changes colour.

As far as changing the texture goes ... well if it already has a texture then all you can do is try putting another texture on top of it. It may work but you just have to experiment. :)

As Wendy wrote, how you recolour depends from item to item. Take a look at THIS TUTORIAL (http://spraguelab.squarespace.com/blog/2007/3/23/photoshop-friday-2007-12-re-coloring.html) by Jessica Sprague which shows (with screenshots) four different ways to recolour elements depending on what they are.
