Let's go to Italy this week ... well sorta. The theme for the week is Roman Numerals.

This may be a bit of a tougher theme, but if you get hung up think about clocks or watches ... they're both good sources. And if by chance someone comes along (Val) at say XXII:0V (-VII GMT);) and uses that idea, there's no rule that says it can't be used twice.

This will be a good week for a liberal interpretation of the theme.

Have fun.

I will continue to look for a more organic representation of Roman Numerals. However, while whining on the comments thread about being a slow poster last week, I had to find an internet table of said Roman numerals to recall whether C or D represented 100. This gave me the idea to take ...

I found these XCVIII year old Funk and Wagnall books of science. Unfortunately I am missing volumes IX and X, as it is a X volume set. I really like the title of Volume VIII; Conquest of Air and Ether. How poetic is that?

I have a lot of old stuff, so I was excited to see this week's challenge. I searched through my things and I found this old medicine bottle that I found many years ago on my parent's property. According to internet sources, the funny looking symbol at the beginning stands for ounces, so this says 16 ounces.

A friend recently bought this gorgeous old watch on eBay. It is a 17-jewel Americus nurse's watch from the 1920s.

And the time is: II:XXXV.

Here is my submission. I'm going to see what I can do with a close crop of one of the roman numerals.

Hi,

Best I could do this week. Sitting in traffic on 8th Ave, looked up to the side of the main P.O. for NY and saw this. But, had to get it quick as traffic started moving! Definitely a challenge in these digital times to find Roman numberals. :D

Thanks Bill.

Article IV of Robert's Rules of Order addresseses Incidental Motions. That's enough to make me want to read on to see what happens in Articles V and VI !! ;)

I was determined not to miss this week, but had to abandon the ideas for outside shots as the weather is keeping my camera indoors this week, so here's my entry.

A George V half sovereign which was a christening present to my grandad.
