I get a photoshop elements window with 4 items in it when I boot up my computer. I have gone to msconfig and taken it out and it reappears.
Does anyone have any familiarity with this? I would like it to be gone.
thanks

In Version 5, if you look in the lower left hand corner, you can choose how you want PSE to start up. Pick the way you want, and from then on that will be the way the program will launch.

Hank's solution may be describing something else. If so, then please post a screenshot of what you're seeing along with your version of PSE and version of Windows.

Wiry, let us know which version of Elements you're using. That will help us get started. If you can include a screen shot of what you see, that would be even better.
best,
Rick

I am using photoshop elements 7. I uninstalled all previous versions and I have gone to msconfig and taken photoshop elements out of startup but it keeps rechecking itself. I did a screenshot but it failed to upload. I captured it and saved it as a bitmap, but maybe I don't know how to do it. Tried to upload it. Upload failed. It opens as a Photoshop Elements window and it has four files in it. They are named plug-ins, recipes, and then two .dll files. Any thoughts?

A high-resolution screen shot of your entire screen would clarify precisely what you’re seeing:
1. Click the Print Screen button on your keyboard (may be abbreviated as PrtScn or something similar).
2. In Windows, Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.
3. In Paint, Edit > Paste.
4. In Paint, File > Save. For Save As Type, select PNG. Save the file to your desktop.
5. In your browser, go to www.pixentral.com (http://www.pixentral.com/) (free).
6. Click Browse, browse to the file you saved in step 4, select the file, click Open.
7. Click Send.
8. Copy the URL from your browser’s address bar and paste it into your reply message.

John ... thanks so much for your info on how to save a screenshot. I have printed out your message for future reference. I have temporarily solved my problem by again deleting photoshop elements from the startup menu in the ms config program. It seems to be holding this time. If it comes up again, I'll copy it and post another question.
Thanks very much for your quick response. It was very helpful.

What you're seeing is the Elements Launcher. You can instead use a shortcut to the Organizer or Editor space instead of the launcher.
The Elements Launcher Shortcut is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Photoshop Elements 7.0.exe"
The Organizer Shortcut is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe" and the Editor Shortcut is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"

This shortcut info is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks,

I'll try that, too. It will save a lot of time. I wonder if the window will go away. It seems to disappear on it's own after the complete bootup.

I cannot find this in elements 7 - the welcome screen is annoying to me.

See this FAQ for how to set up shortcuts or disable the advertising:
