Hi again...with another Mac user problem.
Suddenly today, when I double-clicked on the Canon Raw images in iPhoto to bring them into PSE4 - just like always - they opened as jpegs, and not in the camera raw editor. I thought maybe the camera raw plug-in was out of date so I googled and thought I saw where a new plug-in (4.3.1) had replaced the 3.7 version. I downloaded and installed it, and it now shows up in 'About Plug-in' and in the local disk directory like this: (Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS2/File Formats/Camera Raw.plug-in). I don't know what CS2 is doing there since I don't have it, but there's a lot I don't understand...). Anyway, the Canon Raw images still opened as jpegs.
Then, after more googleing, I found that there was a Photoshop Elements 4.0.1 compatibility update which is needed to install and use the latest plug-in, so I downloaded that. But in order to install that, it says I need to download a .bin file, which usually requires a .cue file. I have no idea what these files are, where you get them, etc. etc. Anyway, this seems way overly complicated. Is all this really required just to update your plug-in??
I do still have the 3.7 version sitting on my desktop if needed.
I'm really confused now...I don't know if I needed a new plug-in or not in the first place, or if I goofed up the install instructions. Any ideas on getting out of this forest? Thanks very much.
