I am trying to do something for the "beverage" challenge and have done a couple of photos but I am now in trouble

For some reason I can not see what I am doing although it is showing up in the thumbnail in the pallette bin.

I am using PSE4 with Windows XP Pro and I have:

1. opened a photo

2. made a duplicate layer

3. done some cloning to take something out (and that has worked)

What I want to do now is to

a. put my signature on the photo (I have made a bush and saved it)

b. using the brush tool, put some molecules on the photo

I have tried duplicating the layer and creating a new layer but both times when I use the brush what I am trying to put on the layer only shows up in the thumbnail

What am I doing wrong

Hi Karen

What thumbnail are you talking about? The layers one?
Dumb questions ..but I have to ask .. is the eyeball on? is your sig layer the top one? I can't tell you how many times I have messed with an out of position layer:rolleyes:
One other thing, if you have a selelction active when you put your sig in, then it won't show up unless your sig is in the selected area. (spent hours on that as well:D )

Gary,

Yes, the layers thumbnail

Yes the eyeball is on

No the signuature layer was not the top one :D have changed it to the top one and can now see my signature

I made another layer and made sure that was on top and the other brush also worked.

Does that mean that each new layer must be on top to be able to see what you are doing

More or less..but mostly more:)
Think of it kind of like overheads/tranparencys. If the top one covers the one below it then you can't see it (if the eyball is on) unless there is a clear (tranparent) area to see through, or, it is smaller (which makes the non image area, see through, anyway).
Or for the scrappers, kind of like a scrapbooking page. Just keep putting things on top, but you can't see the stuff below unless itis not covered.

Hope this helps

Thank you Gary for quick response, particularly considering our time differences. It is 0815 on Friday morning here and I have a sneaking suspicion it is probably very late Thursday night for you.

Thank you
