Hi everyone! It has been soooo long since I have been able to really check in here and say hello. I did peek in a couple times in the past week or two, but didn't have time to say hi. Life got really busy and well you know the rest of the story............................... but as my momma always says "never forget your roots!", lol! So here I am, back to where my digi scrapping roots got started. I hope that everyone is doing well.

I have a question. I am assisting my kid on her high school scrapbook. It isn't just about her though, instead it's for her and her friends so it includes 'the group' from age 10 through now and will continue for the next year. Once graduation rolls around in a year, she's going to print off enough copies for each of the kids in 'the group' as her graduation gift to them. So my question is, should she use only the high school colors throughout the entire book, or should she incorporate different colors and just make it a hodgepodge of colors and patterns. One of our ideas was to keep it simple, sort of monochromatic using school colors. But the other part of her wants to make it hodgeypodgy (her word! lol).

What would your advice be or what would you do if this was you making this album?

It would be easier to do "hodgepodgy" if the photos were converted to B&W. I love showing off bright colors, but they often clash with clothing and background. B&W photos solve that problem, and they are not boring. Have her give it a try. If she keeps the photos in color, my recommendation would be to use the school colors...maybe vary the tones/shades/saturation some throughout, and add accent colors that compliment them here and there. It's a theme album, so carrying on the color theme just makes sense.

Hi Shar! It's been awhile huh. I hope you and your family are doing well. My husband has finally retired from the Corps and we have settled into a life here. So glad we are DONE DONE DONE with moving!

I like the idea of turning photos into B/W, but she says that the problem with that is 20 years down the road she wants everyone to see how ridiculous they looked sometimes (they love to wear mismatched socks and so forth) and thinks that the B/W will take that opportunity away. She liked your idea of varying the tones and whatnot throughout, and keeping with the school colors. So that is what she's going to do. She's been having fun with the few pages she has made thus far, then she got stumped on the color thing. LOL! It's going to be a really great yearbook sort of thing for them. I hope they all get a real kick out of it!

Thanks for the advice Shar! As always your a big help!!

If she's going to have the book bound up or printed as a book, then maybe stick with facing pages in the same general color scheme, so they coordinate, but mix and max the colors throughout, if that makes her happy.
