I just imported some images to the Organizer from my D70 and want to burn them to cd, edit them, print and then save the edited files for further use as needed. My problem is that when I open the new photos to Organizer, the other pics I have taken this month show up too and I don't want to burn them to this CD. {"Old pictures" always show up when I import new ones from the D70 to edit and print}. This is an elementary question I know but I am not quite sure how to proceed. Any help appreciated - thank you!

I don't know Organizer that much.. but can't you view by film rolls ? Or imported date? That should help you refine your search.

save yourself the headache and just burn using windows!! I am not happy with the way it works in the organizer. It's much simpler to just open you pictures in windows and pick the ones you want. Also when you burn a cd from the organizer it WILL NOT let you add any more pictures to that cd. It finalizes it. A big waste. :(

Hi Foxfire,
You can just select which photos you want to burn and go from there. Although personally I just go though Windows and use "copy to CD". Either way works okay.
Pauline you got in while I was typing. I didn't realise the organizer finalises the CD, like you I use Windows.

You can view by import batch and find by import batch. Then select and export to a folder to burn with Windows, or select and drag and drop to your burn to cd folder. (Actually I have never done the drag and drop method, but posters here have recommended it.)

I agree with burning via Windows to avoid closing your cd, but I like to select photos in Album(Organizer).

It sounds like you don't quite have a handle on how Organizer works yet. It is worth taking some time to understand how you can use categories/tags/collections etc. It can be very helpful once you learn how to best make use of its capabilities.

You might want to read the free exerpts from the book at http://www.photofanatic.com/.

Please be very very careful in doing backups from Organizer. Many people have burned, verified and then found nothing but a blank disk. I do hope that has improved in PSE 4 but in PSE 3 it was a documented problem. :(

Hi Foxfire, choosing photos and burning a cd from the organizer is very straightforward. The best way is to group the photos in a collection. Once you do that, you can burn the images to a cd for distribution, as collections are specifically for grouping photos that share a common destination, like a cd. Once in a collection, you can add or remove photos, adjust the sequence for a slide show (if that's what you want), or simply just burn the images in any order. As some other posters suggested, learn the organizer and understand how to assemble collections, stacks, assign tags, and other things. The organizer is very powerful. Once you master it, you'll be in much better control of your photos.

Thank you again for all of your input. Also, I just ordered Michael Slater's book on organizing photos in Elements 3.0.

I look forward.

I was just on the Adobe site last night and believe it or not there is a topic on backing up and getting Blank CD's from Backups in PSE 3 - their answer????????

Use a different program to backup and burn to a cd!!!

They recognize a problem in PSE 3 and their solution is to use another company to solve it. That made me very angry!

I've mentioned this a few times now but PSE uses the Roxio Sonic cd burning engine. This is also badged as "Record Now". I stopped using Record Now on my PC because of errors during burning (backups, creating music discs etc). So I think the problem lies with the Roxio program.

I did ask Roxio for help both with Record Now and PSE but they weren't interested  .

The sad thing is that using another program does not save all your tags, etc. so if there is a problem they will all be lost. It's really unfortunate since I do think the organizer is terrific. The problem is one of the most important features is flawed!

I just used the "burn" feature in PSE 4.0. I have my photos tagged, so I opened up the selection of photos I wanted, then highlighted them all. I chose "move/copy" all selected files. I burnd them and noticed that Sonic Solutions is the program.
I just read the reply regarding "blank disks" and froze.....I put the cd in and thank goodness, the pix were there. However, I did notice some framed pix I did work on were not there. I made sure I checked "add version sets"... could it be that I cannot see psd files on this cd?? I guess I should have made sure I was showing all items in the version set (I thought it was) or is it because I should have saved those pix as a jpeg?? I thought I did "save as" when I worked on them..........??? oh well. I do have all of them saved offline, but now I can't add those 3 or 4 pix:( .
Also, about 10 pictures were not "connected" and the reconnect couldn't find the original, so I just clicked "delete from catalog". I searched everywhere--since these pix weren't terribly important, I decided to just get rid of the thumbnail.
