I have version 3 and at one time had version 2 on my computer. When looking at the control panel I noticed that version 2 is still listed there and that all of my pictures apparently are being stored there not in version 3. However when you try to find version 2 in the windows explorere it is not listed. How do I locate my pictures so I can move them to a HD as my computer is about to crash. I store my pictures by the dates but I really don't know where they might be. I also have version 5 on another computer and that one has all the latest pictures listed on my HD by the dates.
Thank you.

Hi Karen ..
... and welcome to the Village :)
Are you talking about PSE2 & PSE3 .. if so then PSE2 didn't have the organiser so your photographs are not store by PSE2.

This is quite confusing. How do you know that your pictures are being stored in Version 2? You can't tell from the control panel. So, please tell us how you know where your pictures "are being stored".
You also don't say if you can open Photoshop Elements (or Photoshop Album) at all. Can you run the program at all?
How do you locate your pictures? If you are talking about Photoshop Elements or Photoshop Album, the photos are on your hard drive. If you can run Photoshop Elements, or Photoshop Album, you probably should perform the File->Backup Catalog which creates a backup of everything to a CD, DVD or external hard drive. On your new computer, you could do a File-> Restore Catalog.
If you can't run Photoshop Elements (or Photoshop Album) at all, then you can locate your photos on your hard disk. If they are .jpg photos, you can do a Windows search for *.jpg.

I can still use my program. When I was trying to make more room on my computer I was trying to get rid of programs that I don't use. Photoshop elements 2 said that I had a file of 8,183.00MB and Photshop elements 3 say I have a file size of 218.00MB. I thought I had not used the v2 version since I got v3, however by the size of the file I must be. Like I said the only place it shows v2 is in the control panel. I can not find the disk to reinstall it so I don't know how to get the info back into the computer.

Photoshop elements 2 said that I had a file of 8,183.00MB and Photshop elements 3 say I have a file size of 218.00MB.The file size shown in Control Panel is the size of the program. It has nothing to do with the number pictures on the computer.
The number shown for PSE3 looks right. 8,183 MB is 8 GB, which can't be correct.
Either way, follow Paige's suggestion and search for your pictures with Windows Explorer. Once found, you can right click on any one and select Open with >Photoshop Elements 3.

Just to clarify ... your photos are not stored in Photoshop Elements. They are on your hard disk somewhere as individual files.
The size of the files that you report is irrelevant.
If the size of the files that you are reporting is the size of the Photoshop Elements catalog (which is a .psa file), then you might want to copy these files and your photos to your new computer.
It would help if you provide us with more details, such as the exact names of the files you are looking at.
