Question about Pixentral, Village Gallery, Blogging & More

Please help a new user out with clarifying why and when photos are posted to different sites. What are the differences? :confused:

For example, I have a Village Gallery, and I understand that IoW are picked from the Gallery. It's a place to upload prints, up to a certain amount, which I guess also applies to PET site, for paid subscribers.

Then there's Pixentral - challenges and contests use that, but why not link back to your Gallery?

Blogs are used for the 365 and I guess other blogging activities. I am working on a blog as I think the 365 is a great idea. I assume a blog is used because there are fewer restrictions re: file sizes?

Hi lijola and welcome to the Village! You seem to be getting a handle on things pretty well.

The galleries are usually used for photos we want to put on sort of permanent display. Anyone can have an Elements Village gallery and what we call the TAG IOW are chosen by a rotating group of members from amongst images posted there. The Photoshop Elements Techniques galleries are for subscribers to our parent site. An IOW and several editor's choice images are selected from those images each week by Tami Fry, a site administrator.

Pixentral is usually used to post images that we don't necessarily want on permanent display. They might be images used to illustrate a technique or those posted to various challenge threads. Pixentral images have a life-span and are removed from that server after a certain time with no views.

I'm glad to hear you are interested in doing a 365 blog. We have a really great community which has developed around those blogs and certainly have room for more participants.
