I would like to do this:
I have a new 1Tb Ehd
Used 250gb(Fdrive) that holds my some of my pictures and all my scrapbooking supplies. Not all of the images have been imported into PSE5
My C drive on laptop contains some photos and odds and ends.

I want to remove all from my C; including My documents and My pictures to the 250 back these to the new 1tb EHD.
Reformat the 250 add the files back to the 250gb and keep the backups also on the 1TB EHD

I do have tags and a system going on in the catalog but have never put my scrapbooking supplies in it and not sure if that is necessary.

I need to backup my catalog again. I have reconnected all except for 2 files that were on my old computer that quit( scanned files) I have it set to store files on the 250 Ehd (F drive) now and that is where it also downloads my images from my camera card.

I would like to have my scrapbooking supplies on a 8gb flash drive to take with me so don't have to take larger drive.

My goal is to eventually have another 1TB EHD.
I usually keep my Ehd connected to my laptop but it has a power on and off button so I just turn it on when I work in PSE5
Steps I am thinking of:
Import all of my photos into the organizer, continue with the tag system I am using and add more as needed. Question will the organizer find duplicates if I try and import a folder already in it? When if first started with PSE I imported those images from folder that I wanted to work on.

Should I backup the catalogue now , then import other images then backup with incremental backup after import?

Copy all my files to the 250GB EHD then to the 1TB EHD reformat my 250 add back to it the files from the 1tb.
After I do this if it is correct I will use my Norton 360 to backup any new files and also the regular do incremental backups through the catalog.
is this the right workflow? All suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Vesta

This is how I would probably approach it. Basically do lots of reconnect alls and catalog recovers between steps.

1.) Remove the 2 missing files from your Organizer, do a reconnect all and a file catalog recover.
2.) Back up Organizer to your TB EHD (Safety First)
3.) Move the contents of your 250 ehd to the TB ehd
4.) Reformat 250 ehd.
5.) Move the contents back onto your 250 ehd.
6.) Use Organizer folder view to move stuff from your C drive to your 250 ehd. Or select images>file>move. Kind of depends on how you want your folders organized on the ehd.
7.) File>Catalog>Recover and maybe a Reconnect All just to be safe.
8.) Use Windows Explorer to move the rest of the stuff to the 250 ehd.
9.) Reconnect All. Just in case some of that stuff was in Organizer.
10.) File Import. I would start by importing various subfolders & folders on the 250 ehd starting with the ones where you know the photos are that you want to import. Then do a broader import on the 250 ehd and C drive to catch photos you may have missed. This should keep duplicates from importing from the wrong folder. I have found Organizer to be pretty good at catching duplicates but if a name or date has been changed it will not be recognized as a dup.
11.) Do another reconnect all, file>catalog recover.
12.) Do a fresh complete back up to your 1 TB drive from Organizer. Dump the old one. Do incrementals from this point on for awhile.
13.) Do your Norton back ups of the C and 250 ehd drives ot your TB.
14.) Make sure you have a copy of the scrapbook flash drive files on one of your other drives.
