External Hard Drive failure

I had all my photos (lots of them) on an external hard drive that was failing. I managed to copy (just using copy and paste) them all to another drive but can't Reconnect the catalog to the files on the new drive.

I've had to shut the old external hard drive off but the catalog thinks the external drive is just offline and everything is ok.

Does anyone know how I can force a reconnect to folders on the new physical drive?

Thanks for the post. It has helped. I've had to go through folder by folder but at least I can see some light at the end of the tunnel.
