Blur tool stopped working

When I select the blur tool and set my brush size, I go over my photo in the areas that I want to blur but nothing happens. Even when I set the slider to 100% it still doesn't do anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated.:(

Thoughts:

Try a tool reset.

Make sure the active layer is the one you want to blur.

Be sure you don't have an active selection limiting what portions are available to blur.

If you are working on a high resolution image then the effect of the blur tool will be very slight ... check if it is working OK on a low resolution image :)

Wendy, How do I know if I am using a high or low resolution? I use the same camera for everything.:(

I'm not Karin, but here's your answer.:)

To reset a tool, click the little black arrow in the left corner of the Options bar. Then click Reset Tool.

Check it out this way ..

Open up a new new File File>New Blank>File choose 500 pixels x 500 pixels 72 per inch resolution.

Now select the paint brush with a hard brush and draw something on the page

Select the Blur Tool run it across the brush stroke and you should see the edges soften.

The Blur Tool is only intended to give a very very gentle blur so if you want to use it on high resolution images then you have to run it across the area many times.
