My uncle wants to upgrade to Photoshop elements 7. Before upgarding he want to compare Photoshop elements 6 with Photoshop elements 7 and find out in what ways Photoshop elements 7 is better than Photoshop elements 6. It will be helpful if I get some information here which I can pass on to him.Thank You.

Hi ...
To my mind the biggest advantage of PSE7 is that you can change the shade of the interface ... :)
... but there are quite a few other things in there too ... why not download a demo version of PSE7 so that he can try it and see if he likes it :)

I upgraded and glad. The main upgrade for me was speed, the organizer is much better with large files (RAW) and my large catalog.
Some of the new actions seem to work well, but I have not done much testing.
Enjoy

PSE7 is the first version - going all the way back to PSE1 - that I've decided to skip. Just not enough differences for me to justify the $$.
Truth be told, though, I'm using Lightroom so much that Elements (and CS3 - skipping that upgrade as well) is just an occasional fine tuner on the back end of my workflow. I kinda miss it, but LR is fast and effective for me.
BUT - to answer the original question: I'm confident that Elements 7 represents an improvement over Elements 6. Every version has been better than the one before, except perhaps for 4, which I recall as a somewhat disappointing version nestled between two excellent ones (3 and 5).

I have PSE5 on my laptop (XP operating system) and it has worked so well that I didn't upgrade even though 7 looked good. I looked at the demos and it was sure enticing but since I have OnOne Essentials I thought I could get by with PSE5.
I am planning on waiting until Window 7 Operating system comes out and (I have Vista 64 on new destop ) see if the next PSE 8 will be more suited for the 64 bit.

I have all versions from 3 on-just because. I like version 7 because it does seem to be quicker and on my system the organizer is much more stable. My understanding is that under the hood they switch the database engine from the old access DB to SQL. Whatever it works better for me. If you have 6 you will for the first time have a very familiar feeling. They kept the interface almost the same. They also added two new action type selection brushes called the smart brush and the detailed smart brush which allow you to do some canned effects. There is also an action player that automates some tasks. You can also change the dark gray background color to a lighter color should you care to. Is the difference worth the money-well for me it fixed the organizer bug. If you however have no problem running 6 then probably not. Oh if you decide to purchase you may want to shop at Costco (need to be a member) or Costco.com (I don't believe membership is required). The reason is that there is bundled software with the package from Linda Sattgast the Adobe Scrapbooking Guru. Tons of vids that cover a wide range of elements issues-not just scrapbooking.
