I currently have PSE 6 and PS Premiere Elements 6.0. Is it worth the extra $$ to upgrade to PSE 7.0 ? What would I be gaining? T/U!

Hi ..
... and welcome to the Village :)
There are some differences ... a major one for me is the ability to change the shade of the interface.
... but it may be worth you downloading the demo version to see what you think :)

Other really cool features are smart brush and actions.
Smart brush combines the quick selection tool and adjustment layers in a single tool. So instead of first selecting an area and then applyin an adjustment, you could do it simulataneously.
The really really cool feature is "actions". Although you cant create actions like in Photoshop, but you can download and play actions in PSE7. Actions are a repeated set of tasks which you can perform in a single click. and there are lots of free ones availble on the web.
If you are a user of Organizer, album sync and pairing up with your Photoshop.com account are things to look out for! :)

Ice, I chose to stick with PSE6, I didn't see anything in the new version I couldn't live without. I chose to upgrade CS3 to CS4, but that's a different issue.
As opposed to upgrading, you might want to consider investing in a plug-in that would add additional functionality and features, and wait for PSE8.

Pri,
She doesn't need to upgrade to PSE7 to get the benefits of actions. They are widely available for the version she is now using -- PE6.

Hi Sepiana,
I thought that the "action player" got introduced in PSE 7 and was not present in PSE 6?!!

Hi Pri ...
Its only the action player that they introduced in PSE7 ... but in all the previous versions you can install actions manually. In PSE6 you then access them via the Effects Palette.

The only difference between the action player in PSE7 and the actions you can load into effects in earlier versions is that PSE7 now understands action sets. So now one .atn file can contain many actions. The downside is that you have to go out of full edit into guided edit to use them and you still need full Photoshop to create actions or action sets.
