View Full Version : Brush Size Lock Up In PSE 4

As I have often noted, I just use PSE 4. I find that my brushes often lock up in that the bracket keys will fail to increase or decrease brush size. I have to use the scrubber or reset the brush after which bracket behavior again becomes normal until the next occurrence which sometimes happens within just a few minutes. The brackets sometimes function normally for some period of time, but generally the sizing problem will arise several times during a typical editing session. Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

Simenon,

I'll just throw this out in case it's helpful - I can't say positively whether I've had the same situation...

Sometimes, while using PSE, I note that tapping a keyboard shortcut does not respond. In these cases, I have been doing something which has somehow left the cursor active in an entry field. I have learned that when keyboard shortcuts don't respond, if I tap the ESC key, they will often return to normal function.

YMMV!!

HTH,

Byron

Hi Byron - nearly 5 hours of photo editing today and the annoying critter did not exhibit its phenomenal head a single time. I know it is lurking in there somewhere though, waiting to pounce again when I least expect it. If so, I hope I manage to ESC from the situation. If the forum doesn't hear from me again, it means I didn't make it.

PS - I returned for another hour+ editing session this evening and sure enough the critter was back. Luckily, I managed to ESC successfully thanx to you.

I didn't know about the ESC Solution. Will try that next time. Thanks, Byron.
It happens to me more often with the Clone tool than the regular Brush. My solution so far has been to briefly switch to another tool, like the Hand, then back. It usually works, but not always.
