View Full Version : Restoring PS 5 catalog

I recently bought a new Dell laptop running Vista Home Premium 64. I installed PS elements 5 and restored the catalog I had backed up from the old laptop (same version of PS elements). It says it completed the restore successfully but when I click on the message box confirming the restore, it just sits there for ever. I never see a picture or a tag. At the top of PS Elements it says (Not Responding).
I also tried just moving the catalog file from the old laptop to the new laptop. Since the pictures are in the exact same place on both machines I thought this would work. I get the same hang up.
Any ideas.
Thanks

Make sure you are running version 5.0.2 of PSE.
Also, read the instructions here for this particular Vista related PSE problem:

Paige,
Are you currently running PSE 5.0.2? If yes, are you running under Vista 64 bit?
The reason I am asking these questions is that I thought that some people had said that 5.0.2 did not run under Vista 64 - that it was only v6 or v7 that people had been able to run under 64 bit Vista and 5.0.2 could only be run on Vista 32 bit. I don't immediately have a reference and I am not at all certain about this - but it does seem worth clarifying.

PSE5 works fine under Vista 64. I have zero problems with it

Turning off the Adobe Active File Monitor service corrected the problem. There was a write up about it on the Adobe site.
Thanks to everyone who responded.
