My daughter has a Vista PC running Photoshop Elements 5 but she wants to burn slideshows to DVD. The machine spec is just under that required for Photoshop Elements version 7 so I have bought PE6 with Premiere Elements 4 together in a suite. My question is, how do I upgrade the PE5 to PE6 while still maintaining her Catalogs.
I intend to do a full back up first but if I use the backup facility in PE 5, will PE6 restore the files?
Thanks
Mick

Aodbe has a pretty good tech note on how to upgrade a catalog:

Mick,
Can you return the PSE 6/PRE 4?
I ask because it is my opinion that the Organizer in PSE 7 is more stable (has less bugs) than PSE 6.
I suggest that you post some specs of that computer - several people might be able to give you feedback or you could download the PSE 7 trial.
Of course you could consider Premiere Elements 3 to pair with Photoshop Elements 5.0.2 - if PSE 5.0.2 is currently running OK on that Vista machine? However, one limitation of PSE 5 and PRE 3 is that Adobe will now provide absolutely no support for those versions.

Thanks for that.
Will PSE 5 run with Premiere Element 4 from the suite I have?
Thanks

Sorry Mick, but I can not answer that because I do not have Premiere Elements 4 installed in order to test it.
They were not designed to work together and I do see a potential for problems because the Elements Catalog database format was significantly changed from PSE 5 (which shipped with Premiere Elements 3) and PSE 6 (which shipped with Premiere Elements 4).
