Hi All,

I have a green screen I shoot against and a digital backgrounds CD. When I transfer the subject onto one of the digital backgrounds (or any picture for that matter) I get some spill from the green screen. I haven't used this method for awhile and now I find I can't get rid of this green spill. In the past I used to get rid of this spill by using the clone tool set to colour. I would grab the colour next to the edge of the subject and paint over the green spill, it wouldn't affect the background at all just the subject I had transplanted. It used to work great but now I can't do it.

The clone tool results are no different if I use the "colour" option or "normal". It just clones the image, and goes onto the background. I have read and reread the instructions I had always used. Is it possible that my elements is not working properly? Does anyone know how I could prove if I have a program problem or, an operator problem :).

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Jim,

Did you say what version of Photoshop Elements that you are using?

If you are using versions 6 or 7, have you taken a look at the free video Quick Selection Tool video located in the Learning Center of http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com?

The Quick Selection Tool + the Refine Edges feature may prove useful.

The Clone Stamp Tool remains my favorite.

You can also do some edge clean ups with the Smudge Tool. And, if you do not have the Quick Selection Tool, you may want to look at working with Select Menu/Modify to refine your selections. All sorts of workarounds.
