Hi all,

I have a green screen I shoot against and a backgrounds CD. When I transfer the subject onto the background I get some spill from the green screen. I haven't used this method for awhile and now I find I can't get rid of the spill. In the past I used to get rid of this spill by using the clone tool set to colour. I would grab the colour next to the edge of the subject and paint over the green spill, it wouldn't affect the background at all just the subject I had transplanted. It used to work great but now I can't do it. The clone tool results are no different if I use the "colour" option or "normal". It just clones the image, and goes onto the background. I have read and reread the instructions I had always used. Is it possible that my elements is not working properly? Does anyone know how I could prove if I have a program problem or, an operator problem :).

Many thanks in advance

I have just started working with a green screen. One question, are you talking about a fringe around the subject...sort of a halo?

If so, one of my books suggests using the non-red key. Then in the properties panel, choose from the defringing drop-down menu...select green.

I haven't tried this yet, but it seems promising.

I use a chroma screen also and encounter the same problem. I have tried using the Refine Selection tool in CS3, but it doesn't always give me the results I am looking for.

Erfanstorm:
What book are you referring to?

thanks!

I am think we may be talking about two different things. The chroma key put me in the Premiere Element mode. So let's step back to see if we truly are talking about Premiere. If so, what version is being used.

The book is "Hollywood Special Effects" by Carl Plumer.

On my project, I used the chroma key first to clear as much of the green as I could, but it took some of the guy's blue shirt. Then I used the green screen to get the rest.

Like I say, I have just started working with the green screen, so I have a lot to learn.

Thanks. I will check that one out.
