After all afternoon, I can't seem to get actions on PSE7!!! So stressed! I've been on several tutorials, some have zip files some say to copy the .atn file. I think I need to start fresh. Any help out there? One good place to go? I'm using XP not vista so on some tutorials my paths don't match. I do have my hidden files up but beyond that, I'm hopeless. Any one able to point me in an easy direction??
Quick example...when I follow a path and get to the 7 folder...I have editor, organizer and presents...not photo creations or anything else. In the presents folder, I have actions.
Does this make any sense to anyone??
Thanks~
Renee

Hi Renee, welcome aboard!
In PSE7 and Windows XP, actions go here. (Make sure you have "Show hidden files and folders" enabled, so the Application Data folder will be visible.)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Photo Creations\photo effects
Also, could you tell us which actions you've been trying to install? In this way, we could better guide you.

I've been trying to apply Coffeeshop actions. They seem to be a lot of what I would use. It's a fresh day and I'll try again. Is it just cut and paste or do you have to unzip??? Thanks for helping!

Hi Renee,
You need to unzip the action folder, before doing the copying and pasting routine:
1. Right-click on the zipped folder and select Extract All…
2. Run the Compressed (Zipped) Folder Extraction Wizard.
Then, to install the action, follow the instructions in the link (http://digitalphotographyformoms.net/photoshop-elements-help/installing-actions-in-photoshop-elements/install-actions-in-photoshop-elements-7-on-vista/)they provide.
NOTE: The easiest way to install actions is to follow Candy's advice and get the Add-O-Matic (http://www.graficalicus.com/graffishop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=37&zenid=ba0034657f73d7300ab449e312ba5463). I have it and it works wonders. And the price is right too.:)

Hi Renee,
You're most welcome! I'm glad that you got the actions installed. Just watch out! Actions are addictive. I began with just one and now I've lost track of how many I have installed.:D

Hi Renee,
Here are the links for actions written for PSE. Some of them are free, some are not.

Note: Check also the "PSE Club Room" and "PSE Products" tabs for more actions. Although the actions in the PSE Club Room are free, you'll need to register.

Note: Grant's Tools for PSE6 will work in PSE7 with a little tweaking.

HELP!!! I have PSE7 also and I have been trying install actions from coffee shop too. I found the right path and copied the .atn and .png files -- that didn't work. I even bought the Add-O-Matic and that isn't working. In the photo effects folder it looks like everything also has a xlm (?) but there weren't any in what I downloaded....

The .xml files are what groups the actions into categories on the Photo Effects menu. If the action doesn't have an .xml file, it should still show up under Show All.
Another way to access installed actions are through the Guided tab, at the top of the palette bin. Look for Automated Actions, and under that Action Player.

Pansy, do you have Windows set to "Show Hidden Files & Folders?" If not, you won't see your Application Data folder.
Here are Sepiana's instructions to change that setting:

I sell actions in my shop @ Scrapbookgraphics (http://shop.scrapbookgraphics.com/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=40). If you are interested in digital scrapbooking at all, you might find some of them helpful. Most are PSE-compatible.

Hi,
I just installed Add o matic and the action bundle. I have PE7. I can find them in the guided edit, but not in full edit. The directions state that in 7 they are "also" available in guided. In my full edit effects palette, I can't find them anywhere. Anyone experience this? Thanks!

If there is more than 1 action in the download then you'll need to go to guided ediit to use anything except the 1st action in the set. In full edit, the actions installed with Add-O-matic are in the effects/Add-O-Matic----then hover mouse over icons to see what the actions are.
