Hello,
I have been using PSE5 on my Vista computer for over a year without any issues. For the first time today the editor will not save images (does everything else but will not save). Once I am done with editing I click Save As and I get "could not complete your request because of program error".
I have tried reinstalling the program (more then once), in reading other threads there was mention of deleting preferences, however it was for PSE6 and couldn't find the same file names in PSE5.

To reset the preferences follow these instructions (http://www.adobe.com/go/kb401340) (#4). Note that you have to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders.
Also, did you install the 5.0.2 patch (#2)?

Thank you for your response. I do have the 5.02 patch installed. Not sure what I am not doing right, I do consider myself to be a bit savvy when it comes to PCs but I can't find files "Photoshop Elements 5 Prefs.psp" In fact the only place I can find files on PSE are under- program files/adobe/photoshop elements 5.0- but that doesn't have folders titled editor or organizer as the directions on the website suggest. When I try to close the program I can get the error log which says

You have to look under your login, here:
C:\Users\YourLogin\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Editor
Again, be sure you have Windows set to show hidden files and folders.
One other thing, the full filename is actually
Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 Prefs.psp

Thanks for your help, I walked away, came back and reread your directions and found what I had been doing wrong...and it works just like it should...
Thank you again...
