I have problems with any file name changes in PSE 3 except by individual files. For example, I just got a new canon camera, now I will be getting the same file names from the camera as my old canon camera. All I would like to do is add s2 to a batch of files. I can find no easy way to do it in PSE 3 My solution now is to save them to a folder then use Total Commander to do the file name changes. Am I missing something & does anyone have any suggestions to do it all from within PSE.

You should be able to do it with Process Multiple Files - it will let you add an extension like s2 to a batch of files.

Hi Deains

When you are in Batch Process | Rename files | choose Document name in the first selection box and then Serial letter in the second box. I think that will come close to what you would like. As you choose different selections it will give examples. Don't worry about the sample showing .gif that won't happen to your files.:)

Thanks Tony & Mary, don't know how I missed that!! I use batch process all the time to save my camera jpegs to tiff & have done about 5,000!!! I really feel a little DUMB!!

Hi now I know why I don't like the batch file rename, wait till your 64 & you will forget too! If I download 50 jpegs I want to save the original jpeg from the camera and save them as tiff to do correcting, when I save the jpegs as jpegs with the batch file process it does not replace the original file but saves a new one with the filename change then I have to go back & delete the others. I am just trying to do this with as few steps as needed.

If you ask them to be renamed and saved in the original folder you will get a warning that the originals will be overwritten. So 001.jpg would be overwritten by 001a1.jpg.

Let us know:)
